How clean is the escalator handrail?

A typical escalator carry hundreds of people every hour.  Many of their handrails are now cleaned every few hours, however, there are still thousands of people hold the handrail in between each cleaning.  How clean is the handrail?

其實唔衛生就一定架喇....始終公眾場合..
d門柄,lift掣等都唔方乾淨得去邊,
所以政府宣傳勤洗手就係咁解~

The Korean handrail advertiser as seen in "Others Information" on this website actually has a built-in UV steriliser.  However, UV is not a very effective way of sterilising handrail surface.
